The aim of our site is to share our experiences and knowledge in order to make our intern journey easier and more enjoyable. Regardless of the industry we’re in, the intern experience is unique for us as a group because we’re all in the same boat – just studied/qualified, and now embarking as newbies in a workplace with its unique culture and expectations. At the end of our journey we want to be more knowledgeable and employable – more attractive to prospective employers. Let’s help each other achieve this.

Internship programmes are a great way of working out what it is you want to do and beginning the process of becoming great at it! Be pro-active and reach out to companies and people who inspire you and where you will learn different areas that you find interesting. You can find internship programmes advertised on industry-related websites but also don’t be afraid to directly contact companies you admire and inquire about any internship programmes.
Whilst at at internship become a go-getter and ask questions, it’s the only way you learn! Internships are also a great way to network and meet others who can give you advice on the areas of the business that you are interested in. Sometimes it's during an internship that you’ll discover your mentor figures that may very well help you and your career for years to come.
Internships sometimes lead into future work, whether it is short or long term but even if not immediately evident to you, your hard work is ALWAYS noticed and you never know when your phone might buzz with that next big opportunity.
So keep in mind that having an internship experience is beneficial and important as it helps you gain valuable real life work experience and build contacts in your area of studies. With the support of a mentor during your internship programme, you also have a unique opportunity to apply and build on your academic training with real work experience.
